Arrived early, 8:45am and there were 3 Wings out, RBLocal, JustJohn and Gustastic and 2 rigging Dr. MarkyMark and Fray-Fray, oh ya, and me. It was still light inside so I grabbed the 7.0m but 5 mins later some 10-15kt gusts coming through the bay so I threw the 7.0m back in the ManVan and grabbed the 5.2m and rigged it FAT! BikerMatt showed up on his bike, of course and was rigging quick. Got out and the 5.2m was the perfect choice. Ripped around for 30 mins but then it picked up to 15-20kts so came in and rigged the 4.5m Sailworks Flyer which was again, the perfect choice for the next hour and a half. Lots of people rigging on the beach so I headed back out into Wingland on my Windsurf foil. Before I knew it there were 15 Wings out and 2 Windsurf Foilers, Mr. Keen and I. Then the wind got lighter and I headed back out to mid-strait and when I jibed saw no one on the water, YIKES!! it was 10-14kts so I pumped and rode waves all the way back in with lots of doods sitting on logs on the beach chit-chatting. I drank the rest of my coffee and had a granola bar and the beach emptied out as the wind picked back up a little to 12-17kts so I grabbed the 5.2m and followed the train heading out. Good call for another 30 mins with a pod humpback whales swimming that I didn't know about and I got way to close to without knowing, maybe 50m away one of them blew so I jibed right away and heading back into the bay, possibly some poop in my wetsuit. Rode some waves coming into the bay and decided to call it a day. It's too easy to go out on the Windsurf foil because of days like today. Amazing session today, not coming off the foil the entire session. Looking forward to May long weekend so I can practice my Winging at the lake. Lots of WooHoo's on the water today! Great stoke and lots out in the lighter wind as I packed up and headed home for lunch. Loving the early sessions.
